I‘m Connor Napier, I started my musical journey with classical guitar tutoring in school, which still influences how I think of music today. Through this tutoring I have had opportunities to be a part of some guitar ensemble groups, playing shows in events and conferences across my local area. The focus on Scottish music within my musical education has also been of substantial importance to my sound, folk songs with little instrumentation but a lot to say, the focus on lyrics that has driven my own song-writing passion.
I believe music to be a way of true connection. I found this while playing small pub gigs, people meeting and understanding through either the making, performing, or listening of music. Vulnerability, the exposure, the knowing of being judged and scrutinised, brings out one’s true self and in doing anything musical, you are vulnerable. This is what attracts me to music, I am completely myself when engrossed in music.
This way of thinking about music doesn’t just drive my own projects and songwriting, but the way I view life itself. I hope to connect with each person that comes across any of my projects, in any capacity.
